The role of the social media intern will be to support all aspects of our social media channels – i.e. planning, creating and delivery of the Fair Energy Campaign communication with stakeholders in East London, under the supervision of Dr Laura Santamaria, Dr Anze Zadel and Diana Hysenaj.
The Fair Energy Campaign is a grassroots initiative that champions best practices and principles in the energy sector, supports informed decisions for energy procurement and encourages innovation in the energy sector. Working with community-led methods, we co-create opportunities for empowering citizen-driven democratic innovation.
We are particularly interested in applicants with strong social media and content creation skills who have an interest in social justice activism, inclusivity and community.
Job Duties
- Increase the visibility of the campaign by growing and overseeing our online social media channels i.e. Instagram, Twitter, Linkedin, Tiktok & Linktree.
- Planning and creating effective social media content related to energy news and our campaign activity.
- Using graphic design and video editing to create compelling visuals i.e. for Instagram and Tikok.
- Supporting the process of crafting marketing materials such as blogs, stories, social media ads and other resources as necessary to convey the campaign message to targeted audiences
- Collecting basic data in terms of social media engagement and outreach for research purposes.
- Frequently following news, media and outlets on what is happening around the boroughs we are working in but also wider news around energy. Creating/updating a news database to collect frequent news around energy/fuel poverty.
- Come along with us to events and workshops to capture materials for social media posting.
- Participate in project and team meetings, contribute to discussions, and provide inputs and feedback on project documents and outcomes as required
- Representing the campaign at community events.
Conditions of Service
The position is part-time for 3 months, average 10 hours per week, starting in April 2022. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Salary will be following the London Living Wage at £11.05 per hour.
